World of Utensils

Often there are a questions about what utensils, equipment, and tools I’m using in the kitchen. Of course, there are lots of choices, and below you can find the specific item that I’m typically using.

Cream Whipper

I like the Cream Whipper by iSi and I use mine regularly to create foamy sauces for starters, mains, or desserts. Make sure you get one that can hold both hot and cold fluids, that way you are most flexible. They come in various sizes, and I use the 500 ml / 1 pint size (iSi 1603). Some recipes where I use a cream whipper include the Scallops with Vegetable Spaghetti on Saffron Sauce, or, as a dessert, the Thyme Panna Cotta with Herbed Honey & Raspberry Espuma.

Dehydrator

This dehydrator is small and versatile, and we are using it a lot. It makes the equivalent of about two oven trays of fruits or vegetables. Good vegetables to use are beetroot, sweet potato, zucchini, carrots, and many others. On the fruity side, especially the kids enjoy apples, bananas, mangoes, and more.

Hand Blender

This is one of the utensils that I use in many of my dishes. Especially the cord-less feature makes it extremely handy and I opted for a higher-quality combination set for more flexibility.

Spiralizer

Using the Spiralizer you can cut vegetables like carrots, zucchini, and similar into long strings that look like pasta. For example, take a look at the Zucchini Noodles or Scallops with Vegetable Spaghetti on Saffron Sauce. I’ve been using the one by Lurch, which I like a lot.
